This summer has a handful of movies coming out, and with school being over and summer quickly approaching, here’s five of the most anticipated movies you should consider watching.
Karate Kid: Legends
A movie that many “Karate Kid” fans will be excited for is “Karate Kid: Legends.” Being the sixth movie of the franchise, this movie will follow Ben Wang as Li Fong, trying to let go of his past of karate after moving to New York. However, he gets entered into a karate competition, and with the help of Ralph Macchio returning as Daniel LaRusso and Jackie Chan as Mr. Han, he learns how to combine his fighting skills to compete in the competition. Release date: May 30
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
The eighth Mission: Impossible movie, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” is one to keep in mind when looking for new movies to watch this summer. Tom Cruise makes his return as Ethan Hunt as the movie follows directly after the seventh installment “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.” If you’re a Mission: Impossible fan, then you’ll enjoy watching Tom Cruise’s final Mission: Impossible this summer. Release date: May 23
How to Train Your Dragon (live-action)
If for some reason you actually like the live-action adaptations of older movies, then you’ll love the “How to Train Your Dragon” live-action adaptation. This movie started filming in early 2023, and is finally scheduled to release in June of this year. Since the first movie came out in 2010, multiple others, including a series with four seasons, have been released. This live-action adaptation may be one of the better ones, and should go on your list if you’re a fan of dragons. Release date: June 13
Jurassic World Rebirth
The Jurassic movies have had a large impact on movies about dinosaurs. And with the seventh movie now being released in July, fans should get a huge wave of nostalgia, along with a new sense of fear. This movie will follow a group of operatives led by Zora Bennet (Scarlett Johansson) to investigate an island researching the original Jurassic Park in order to gather enough DNA from dinosaurs to further advance technology that may just change the way mankind lives. If dinosaurs and thrillers are your go-to, then “Jurassic World Rebirth” has to go on your watch list. Release date: July 2
Superman
Last but not least, we have “Superman,” the invincible man of steel from the DC universe, getting a new and improved reboot in July of 2025. This movie will follow our beloved Superman or Clark Kent (David Corenswet) trying to resolve the differences between his Kryptonian heritage and mankind down on Earth. A must-watch movie for those who believe Superman is the best hero, or if you’re interested in yet another Superman reboot. Release date: July 11
